Our ITR filing charges start at ₹899 plus GST for a salary or pension return. It is ₹1,149 for presumptive income under section 44AD or 44ADA, ₹2,299 for business income with books, capital gains ₹2,799, and NRI, F&O, crypto or foreign income ₹4,199. The price depends on the kind of income you have. It does not go up for a second Form 16 or a second house property.
If you missed the due date for FY 2025-26, you can still file a belated return until 31 December 2026.

ITR filing charges
What every plan includes:
- We work out which ITR form you need.
- Our team prepares the return and a chartered accountant checks it before it is filed.
- We file it on the Income Tax Department's e-filing portal.
- We help you e-verify it. You must do this within 30 days of filing, or the return counts as filed on the day you verify.
How the price works:
- Belated and revised returns cost the same as your plan.
- If your income falls under two plans, you pay only the higher one.
- Not included: tax, interest or late fee payable to the government. These go to the government, not to us. A tax audit and a reply to an income tax notice are separate services.
How much does a CA charge for ITR filing?
There is no fixed government rate. Each CA or filing service sets its own fee. When we checked on 26 September 2026, large online filing sites listed between ₹999 and ₹2,499 for an expert-filed salary return, and most add GST on top. Returns with business income, capital gains or foreign income cost more everywhere, because they take more work.

Who must file an income tax return
You must file if your total income, before deductions such as section 80C and certain exemptions, is above the basic exemption limit. For FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27) the limits are:
A section 87A rebate that brings your tax down to nil does not remove the duty to file. The test is your income, not the tax you end up paying.
You must also file, whatever your income, if during the year you:
- deposited more than ₹1 crore in one or more current accounts
- spent more than ₹2 lakh on foreign travel, for yourself or anyone else
- spent more than ₹1 lakh on electricity
- had business turnover above ₹60 lakh
- had professional receipts above ₹10 lakh
- had TDS and TCS of ₹25,000 or more (₹50,000 or more if you are 60 or older)
- deposited ₹50 lakh or more in one or more savings accounts
One exception for age 75 and above. You do not need to file if you are resident, your only income is pension and interest from the same specified bank that pays your pension, and you have given that bank the required declaration. The bank then deducts your tax.
Why file even when you owe no tax
- Get your TDS back. If more tax was deducted than you owe, you claim the refund by filing your return.
- Keep your losses. Business and capital losses can be carried forward to later years only if you file on time. A late return loses them, except house property loss.
- Proof of income. Lenders and visa offices often ask for copies of past returns.
What happens if you don't file your ITR on time
You can still file a belated return for FY 2025-26 until 31 December 2026, or before the department completes an assessment, whichever comes first. Our charge is the same as your plan. The late fee is paid to the government.
ITR filing due dates for FY 2025-26
The Income-tax Act, 2025 came into force on 1 April 2026. Returns for FY 2025-26 are still filed on the forms and sections of the Income-tax Act, 1961.
Which ITR form do you need?
ITR-1 is not for company directors, people who held unlisted shares, or anyone with assets or income outside India. Our guide on which ITR form to file goes through each case. You do not have to decide yourself: we pick the form as part of every plan.
Can you file ITR without a CA?
Yes. Anyone can file their own return on the Income Tax Department's e-filing portal. Our step-by-step ITR filing guide shows how. People usually hand it over when they have more than one income source, capital gains, business income or foreign income, or when they want someone to check the return before it goes in. You can also check your tax first with our income tax calculator.
