To download your Udyam certificate, go to udyamregistration.gov.in, open Print / Verify and choose Print Udyam Certificate. Enter your Udyam Registration Number and the mobile number you gave when you registered. Enter the OTP, then print the certificate or save it as a PDF. The official portal charges no fee.
- Use only the official portal, udyamregistration.gov.in. Many private websites look like it.
- You need two things: your 19-character Udyam number (UDYAM-XX-00-0000000) and the mobile number or email you gave in your application.
- Forgot your number? The portal can send all your registered numbers to that mobile or email after an OTP.
- Anyone can check a Udyam number on the portal, using Verify Udyam Registration Number.
- There is no renewal. But you must update your investment, turnover and export details on the portal when each financial year changes.
How to download your Udyam certificate

Don't know your Udyam number? See Forgot your Udyam Registration Number below.
Download by mobile number only? No. The portal asks for both the Udyam number and the mobile number. If you have only the mobile number, first use the forgot option below to get your Udyam number.
Download by Aadhaar or PAN? No. The certificate login does not ask for Aadhaar or PAN.
How to verify a Udyam certificate or number
Before a bank, buyer or government office gives an MSME benefit, it may want to check that your Udyam number is real. Anyone can do this check on the official portal.
- Open udyamregistration.gov.in.
- Open Print / Verify and choose Verify Udyam Registration Number.
- Enter the Udyam number exactly as it is on the certificate, with the hyphens.
- Type the verification code shown on the screen and submit.
- If the number is valid, the portal shows the enterprise's registered details. Compare the name, type and address with the certificate you were given.
Checking a supplier? If the supplier is a micro or small enterprise with Udyam registration, the MSME 45 days payment rule can apply to your payments to it.
Old Udyog Aadhaar number? Use Verify Udyog Aadhaar under the same menu. See Old Udyog Aadhaar certificate.
Can I search by business name, PAN or GSTIN? The portal's verify option works with the Udyam number. We did not find a search by name, PAN or GSTIN on the portal's menu. Ask the business for its Udyam number or certificate.
Forgot your Udyam Registration Number?
The portal has a page for this: Print / Verify, then Forgot Udyam/UAM No.
- Choose Udyam Registration (or Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum for an old Udyog Aadhaar number).
- Choose where the OTP should go: Mobile or Email. Use the one you gave in your application.
- Enter that mobile number or email.
- Click Validate & Generate OTP.
- Enter the OTP and click Validate OTP. The portal shows all registration numbers linked to that mobile number or email.

Can I find my Udyam number with my PAN or Aadhaar? Not on this page. It works only with the mobile number or email in your application.
Lost that mobile number and email too? Our reading: ask your District Industries Centre (DIC) or a Ministry of MSME Champions control room. The 2020 Udyam notification makes them single-window help points for people who cannot file on their own (para 9). Keep your PAN and Aadhaar details ready.
How to update your Udyam certificate
Every financial year. The portal's login page says your investment, turnover and export details must be updated on the portal for re-classification when the financial year changes. Only then can you update your Udyam certificate. The 2020 notification says the same: update your information online, including ITR and GST return details for the previous year (para 8(1)).
What if I don't update? The notification says an enterprise that does not update within the period set on the portal can have its status suspended (para 8(2)).
Some figures come in on their own. The portal says investment and turnover linked to your PAN and GSTIN are taken from government databases.
To update:
- Open udyamregistration.gov.in and use Update Details, or log in through Udyami Login.
- Enter your Udyam number and the mobile number from your application.
- Get the OTP on that mobile or email, enter it and log in.
- Make the changes, check them and submit.
- Print the updated certificate (see download steps).
Give true figures. The portal warns that anyone who gives false details, or hides facts, while registering or updating can be penalised under section 27 of the MSMED Act.
Category changed after an update? How a business moves up or down between micro, small and medium is explained in our Udyam guide.
Mistake or complaint you cannot fix online? The District Industries Centre of your district looks into discrepancies and complaints (S.O. 2119(E), para 9(4)).
Cancel a Udyam registration. The portal has an Update/Cancel Udyam Registration option. You log in the same way.
Is there a renewal? How long is a Udyam certificate valid?
There is no renewal. The Udyam portal says: "There will be no need for renewal of Registration." The Udyam Registration Number is a permanent number (S.O. 2119(E), para 2).
But "no renewal" does not mean "nothing to do". Update your details on the portal each financial year, as explained above. If you don't, your status can be suspended.
Old Udyog Aadhaar certificate: download, verify, update
Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) was the MSME registration before Udyam. Udyam started on 1 July 2020, and the 2020 notification asked every UAM holder to register again on the Udyam portal. The last extension of old UAM validity listed on the portal ran to 30 June 2022.
The Udyam portal still has these options for old records, under Print / Verify:
| You want to | Use |
|---|---|
| Print an old Udyog Aadhaar certificate | Print UAM Certificate |
| Print the old UAM application | Print UAM Application |
| Check an old Udyog Aadhaar number | Verify Udyog Aadhaar |
| Find a forgotten UAM number | Forgot Udyam/UAM No., then choose Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum |
Udyog Aadhaar update. Our reading: there is no point in updating an old Udyog Aadhaar, because it is no longer a valid registration. Register on Udyam instead. See how to register on Udyam.
Udyam number format and what the certificate shows
A Udyam Registration Number has 19 characters, in this form: UDYAM-XX-00-0000000 (Udyam portal). Our reading: XX is the state code and 00 is the district code.
The portal's print page lists these details:
- Udyam Registration Number and date of Udyam registration
- Name of enterprise, organisation type and major activity
- Gender and social category
- Date of incorporation and date business started
- Enterprise type (micro, small or medium)
- Unit or plant locations and official address
- Mobile and email
- NIC codes (your business activities)
- Your District Industries Centre and MSME-DFO
Udyam certificate in DigiLocker
Your Udyam Registration Certificate is also stored in DigiLocker. On 1 January 2025, the Office of the Development Commissioner (MSME) wrote to RBI and to state industry departments. It asked them to accept the Udyam certificate shown through DigiLocker wherever a Udyam certificate is needed, because DigiLocker records are legally treated at par with the original under the IT Act, 2000.
Use only the official portal
Many websites that look like the Udyam portal show up when you search for "Udyam certificate download". The only official portal is udyamregistration.gov.in. The portal says:
"Except this portal of Government of India and Government's Single Window Systems, no other private online or offline system, service, agency or person is authorized or entitled to do MSME Registration or undertake any of the activity related with the process."
It also says: "No Costs or Fees are to be paid to anyone." Before you enter your Aadhaar, mobile number or OTP anywhere, check that the address ends in .gov.in.
