If your business is in Delhi and your turnover crosses the limit, you must register for GST within 30 days. Delhi's GST state code is 07, so every Delhi GSTIN starts with those two digits. A straightforward application is normally approved in 7 working days. The government charges nothing to apply. We handle Delhi registrations from our office in Rohini, starting at ₹349 + GST.
We work online with clients across India. Delhi clients can also come to the office.
Who needs GST registration in Delhi
Delhi is treated like any other State for registration limits. It is not on the list of States where the higher goods limit is withdrawn, so Delhi businesses get the full benefit.
| Your supplies | Register once turnover crosses |
|---|---|
| Goods only | ₹40 lakh |
| Services, or goods and services together | ₹20 lakh |
Turnover here means aggregate turnover on an all-India basis under one PAN, not just your Delhi sales. It includes exempt sales and exports, not only taxable ones.
Some businesses must register whatever their turnover. The common ones in Delhi are casual taxable persons, such as a seller taking a stall at a Pragati Maidan trade fair, anyone supplying goods to another State, and anyone paying tax under reverse charge.
Two things people in Delhi get told that are no longer true. Selling services through an e-commerce platform does not force registration below the limit. Selling goods through a platform that collects TCS has not forced registration below the limit since 1 October 2023, if you meet the conditions.
Our full guide to the limits covers every case: GST registration turnover limit.
Documents for a Delhi application
The list is the same across India. What changes in Delhi is which one you are likely to have, because most Delhi businesses run from rented or shared premises.
| Your premises | What proves the address |
|---|---|
| Owned | Any one ownership document, such as the property tax receipt or the electricity bill |
| Rented, with a registered agreement | The rent agreement. No landlord ID is needed |
| Rented, with an unregistered agreement | The rent agreement plus the landlord's ID proof |
| Rented, electricity or water bill already in your name | That bill plus the rent agreement. No landlord document at all |
| Shared, or a family member's property, with no agreement | Consent letter, the consenter's ID proof, and one ownership document |
The consent letter goes on plain paper. No stamp paper and no notary. Officers have been told not to ask for the landlord's PAN, the landlord's Aadhaar, or a photograph of the landlord at the property. They have also been told not to ask for a trade licence, an Udyam certificate or a shop and establishment certificate as proof of your constitution.

Your Delhi jurisdiction, and how to find it
Every registration sits under two authorities at once. In Delhi the State side is the Department of Trade and Taxes, Government of NCT of Delhi, based at Vyapar Bhawan, IP Estate, New Delhi 110002, which publishes its zone and ward information on its own site. The central side is the Delhi zone of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, which publishes the jurisdiction of its divisions and ranges.
You are asked for this on the application, and most first-time applicants guess. You do not have to.
Once any business is registered, you can see its jurisdiction free, with no login:
- Go to gst.gov.in and click Search Taxpayer.
- Enter the GSTIN and the captcha, then Search.
- The result shows the State Jurisdiction and the Centre Jurisdiction, along with the registration date and the constitution of the business.
The same screen shows a “Field Visit Conducted?” line, which tells you whether an officer has already visited that address.
Before you are registered, use the jurisdiction lookup on the CBIC site for the central range, and the ward boundaries published by the Department of Trade and Taxes for the Delhi ward.
How long it takes in Delhi
| Situation | Time |
|---|---|
| Application not flagged as risky | 7 working days |
| Flagged as risky, or Aadhaar authentication not done, or a site visit ordered | Up to 30 days, with physical verification |
| Officer raises a query in REG-03 | Query within 7 working days. You reply in REG-04 within 7 working days. Decision within 7 working days of your reply |
Physical verification matters in Delhi more than the timeline suggests, because so many businesses run from small rented units, shared floors and homes. The officer has to record whether the business actually exists at the declared address. Keep a signboard up, keep the premises identifiable, and make sure someone is there.
You can check where your application has reached with your ARN. Our free tool explains every status label: track application status.

Working with a GST registration consultant in Delhi
What we do on a Delhi application:
- Check whether you actually need to register, before you pay anything.
- Check whether you qualify for the simplified route under Rule 14A, which gives a GSTIN in three working days.
- Get the address proof right for your premises type, which is where most Delhi rejections start.
- File Part A and Part B, and handle the Aadhaar authentication step.
- Reply to a REG-03 query if one comes, at no extra cost.
- Tell you your ARN so you can follow the application yourself.
We do not claim to be faster than the law allows. The officer has 7 working days, and nobody can shorten that.
